what’s all this then?

GeordieMac is an electronic publishing company run by Jane-Ann Purdy, Edinburgh-based writer and editor. Here she explains what GM is all about …

GeordieMac specialises in three key areas: contentpublications, and websites, though they often overlap as working on the internet becomes more like publishing everyday. Our latest project swimshawmethod, for example, is what I like to call a “web mag”. So much more than a blog, it also does more than a print magazine could ever do. It encourages feedback, community, multiple links, and networks its product to new prospects in new territories even as we sleep. The mag is updated almost every day along with its accompanying social media outlets.

However, my love of the internet and its extraordinary potential for mass yet niche communication does not mean that I have abandoned traditional media. As a ghostwriter I recently completed a neat little book on problem solving using narrative to deliver a hard-hitting training message. And I’m currently working on another very exciting book project, as co-writer. I’ll let you have more news when we have it.

Whatever the nature of your project I will start by getting an accurate profile of your readers, researching the subject matter, and focusing directly on your aims. Keeping a keen eye on what you want your copy or publication to achieve is key to your success.

If required, I will then consult my creative team, a band of seasoned professionals with more than 100 years of experience between them. Together we can add cutting edge photography, design, and web production tailored to your needs.

If you’re wondering, my contribution to the team time tally is 14 years: I’ve been writing and editing for corporate clients since 1996. Take a look at my clients page to get an idea of my experience and find out what they say about my work. You can also find out more about me and take a look at a mug shot at the top of the team page.
