Colin Kirkwood is a psychotherapist and counsellor living and working in Edinburgh. His experience also includes working as an adult educator and tutoring for the University of Edinburgh’s counselling degree. In 2011, he decided to collate a selection of his past papers and other writings into a book entitled The Persons in Relation Perspective. Colin soon secured a deal from the publisher of his previous book, and then contemplated the mammoth task of getting his papers ready for publication.
Somewhat overwhelmed by the task, Colin called and asked if Jane-Ann would be willing to work on the book, transcribing articles that, some of which, only existed on paper. She was responsible for getting all the articles into a form that could be edited, reassessed and, in some cases, rewritten. Once the final list of contents and polished articles were in place, the next task was to ensure they were formatted according to the publisher’s in-house style, ready for printing. Jane-Ann worked to ensure that all elements could be accepted by the publisher and the manuscript was delivered in early 2012.
“Without the help of Jane-Ann Purdy of Geordie Mac, my struggle with wordprocessing and formatting would have failed utterly. She is responsible for extracting from the mind and index finger of a technically challenged interlocutor a document that now appears, at least to its author, very satisfactory indeed. Many thanks, Jane-Ann.”
