The British Council and British Council Scotland are relatively new clients for GeordieMac. In 2010 Jane-Ann put together a speech and presentation for the British Council Scotland’s visit to Hubei Province in China, and in 2012 she was commissioned by the British Council to write some case studies promoting their Comenius project.

The Comenius project fosters cross cultural understanding and learning between schools in the UK and overseas. It does an excellent job in promoting international communication, language learning, and social inclusion. Links are forged between teachers and pupils across borders, and encouragement offered to those who might not ordinarily engage in such initiatives. The case studies were selected, researched and written to reflect those strengths.

For the Scottish China delegation in 2010, Jane-Ann thoroughly researched Scotland’s creative industries and associated post-school education provision, and composed a keynote speech and presentation designed to highlight the country’s many strengths in that sector. The work was put together for a mixed Chinese and Scottish audience and delivered in China by the British Council Scotland’s Deputy Director.

“Thank you for your speechwriting on our China campaign showcasing Scotland’s creative education. You helped us focus on the most powerful messages and how to get them across clearly and simply to a Chinese audience. You researched great examples and visuals for us, and your crisp writing brought the material to life.  My speech went down really well, not just with our Chinese delegates but also with the Scottish academics, one of whom said it was the best presentation of the day!  You played a key role in making it a successful event that enhanced the reputation of Scotland and the British Council.  I couldn’t have done it without you, thanks again.”
