Graeme Stephen is an award-winning composer and jazz guitarist based in Edinburgh. His most recent work is a new score for the Fritz Lang silent film Metropolis, which debuted at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August 2016. Featuring the composer on guitar, acclaimed Dutch string quartet Zapp4, and Tom Bancroft on drums, the piece received a 4 * review in The Scotsman and is currently booking for festivals in Spring/Summer 2017.
Graeme also performs his own scores to other classic 1920s silent films: Nosferatu, Sunrise, The Cabinet of Dr Caligari, Faust and The Navigator.
He composes for and performs with Graeme Stephen Trio (with Tom Bancroft and bassist Mario Caribé) and the Playtime Quartet (the trio plus Martin Kershaw on saxophone).
