partners
GeordieMac is not really a one-woman band. Depending on the project, I work in partnership with some very talented and experienced freelancers (profiled below my own mugshot and blurb) …
Jane-Ann Purdy: writer/editor
I guess you could say I’m the force behind GeordieMac. In fact, Geordie Mac has always been my “pseudonym in storage” for when I finally write that novel. Well, one day. If you’re wondering, the name comes from being half Geordie, half Scottish – thanks Mum and Dad.
I’ve been a writer and editor since 1996. Before that I worked in film and television for five years where I learnt that you can make really great things with a group of talented and dedicated freelancers. All of the GeordieMac team are freelance, but we work really well together. Our overheads are low so we are able to offer very competitive prices on all our products: content, publications, and websites.
I should also mention that two years ago I went back to college to study photography part time and it’s my pictures you can view on the site. I finished my course in June 2009, but I still consider myself to be in training.

Alan McIntosh: sub editor
Alan is the pedant’s pedant. What he doesn’t know about the English language can be written on an atom. When you send your copy or publication to Alan you know that it will come back grammatically correct and clearly worded. Above all you feel confident to commit it to print or cyberspace. A copy editor for 25 years, Alan also writes wonderful short stories, and is a contributing editor for the very brilliant Spurtle, a local paper and independent stirrer produced in Broughton, Edinburgh.

Paolo Drusi: web designer
Paolo studied architecture in Padua, Italy, but he went on to build in cyberspace rather than open space. Seduced by the rich possibility of web design, that in 1995 was in its infancy, Paolo switched careers and never looked back. After six years working in his native Italy, he came to the UK where he got a job designing web- and CD-based multimedia tools for the University of Edinburgh. At the University he was able to enhance his digital skillset, adding video production and stills photography to his CV. Since 2008 Paolo has worked freelance, and now designs and builds websites for a wide range of clients in the UK and overseas. An expert in open source platforms, Paolo’s sites are fresh, clean, and inviting. Once they are up and functioning on all browsers, he will show you how to keep them that way. He is pictured here with his lovely assistant Pancho.
